IOB-Debit Card-FAQs

1. Who can be issued Debit card?

  • Debit cards can be issued to all saving Bank Current account (individual and proprietorship) account holders. Card will be issued in individual name only.
  • Debit cards should not be issued in OD/CC accounts
  • Cards will be issued only upon receiving request from the customer.

2. Which mode of operation accounts are eligible for Debit Card?

  • Cards can be issued to all holders for SB accounts operated under "SO", "E or S" or "Anyone or Survivor" mandate.
  • Card application should be signed by both / all the Account holders.

3. What is the age criteria for issuance of IOB Debit card?

  • Minimum age requirement for issuance of Debit card is 10 years.
  • There is no maximum age Limit for issuance of Debit card.

4. Whether Visually Impaired customers are eligible for debit card?

  • Visually Impaired customers are eligible for card subject to compliance of general rules related to usage of cards.

5. Whether Illiterate customers are eligible for cards?

  • Illiterate customers are eligible for cards under PMJDY scheme subject to compliance of general rules related to usage of cards. However, the person applying for debit card should be numeric literate.

6. In whose name the Debit Card can be issued to Current Accounts customer?

  • In respect of Current Accounts, cards can be issued for the accounts held in individual names and for accounts in the names of Proprietary Firms. However, cards for proprietary firms will also be issued only in the name of the proprietor and not in the name of the firm.

7. Whether OD/CC account holders are eligible for debit Card?

  • Debit cards should not be issued in OD accounts as per the recent guidelines of RBI. However, it will not preclude the bank from linking the overdraft facility provided along with Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana accounts with a debit card.

8. Whether Association of persons like HUF, Societies, Clubs etc are eligible for debit card?

  • No, Any Association of persons like HUF, Societies, Clubs etc. are not eligible for debit card.

Whether Partnership accounts, Limited Companies are eligible for card facility?

  • No, Partnership accounts, Limited Companies are not eligible for card facility.

10. Name Printing facility on the Debit Card available or not?

  • Debit cards are issued either as Insta Cards (without the name of the customer on the card) or with the name of the customer embossed on the card.

11. What to do with INACTIVE Card?

  • Customer to visit Branch to make the card active or customer can activate the card themselves through Netbanking or by visiting any IOB ATM Terminal. 

12. What to do if Card captured in other Bank ATM?

  • As per IBA rules, card will be destroyed. Visit the Branch of your Bank for Blocking the card and request for replacement card. 

13. What are the different variant of debit card issued by Indian Overseas bank?

  • VISA Card, Rupay Card and Master Card.

14. What are the different card type issued under VISA CARD?

  • Classic, Gold, Platinum, Signature.

15. What is the process for DISPATCH OF PERSONALISED CARDS AND PIN MAILERS?

  • Except PMJDY and NRE/NRO, cards are dispatched in inactive status to the residential address available in the CIF of the customer. Undelivered covers will be returned to the respective Branches where customer is having Account.
  • For PMJDY, KCC and NRE/NRO Cards are dispatched to the respective branches in inactive status.
  • Green Pin is made as default option for issuance of cards for all accounts.
  • Option to generate green PIN is available in Net banking, Mobile Banking & ATM.

16. What is the process for RENEWAL OF CARDS?

  • As part of recent amendment by RBI, explicit consent of the cardholder prior to the renewal of an existing card is required. There is a provision in CBS and other channels to get customer consent through multiple channels.
  • In case where the customer has not given the consent for renewal till expiry of the card, customer can still approach the branch for renewal of the card. All such requests received within 12 months after expiry of the card shall be treated as Renewal Card and no charges shall be recovered from the customer.

17. What are the eligibility, issuance charges replacement charges for the VISA /Rupay /Master Cards

  • The maximum number of currency notes our Bank's ATM can dispense through the dispensing slit: 40.

20. What if a customer has forgotten his PIN and has keyed wrong PIN in any ATM for more than 5 times?

  • When a customer has forgotten his PIN and has keyed wrong PIN in any ATM for more than 5 times his card will be blocked and can be reset through Branch or Customer can reset himself through the option PIN RESET available in IB and MB.

Facility has been provided through Branch, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking to switch on /off and set / modify transaction limits (within the overall card limit, if any, set by Bank) for all types of transactions- domestic and international, at PoS /ATMs/ Online Transactions / contactless transactions/transfer etc. when there is any change in status of the card, information is being sent to the customer.
